The Beauty of Farm Life

The Beauty of Farm Life – From My perspective

When you think of a farm, you might think of raising livestock or harvesting crops. There is so much more to living on a farm that is so beautiful, relaxing, and grounding, from waking to watch the sunrise, sitting on the porch with a cup of coffee, to cruising around the open fields with a breeze blowing through your hair. Whether you live on a farm or just outside the city limits, it is beautiful and incomparable to life in the hustle and bustle of the city. In this blog, I will break down some of my favorite parts of living on a farm from my perspective, living on a cattle farm.

Sunrise and Sunsets

Early mornings living on a farm are lovely. There is nothing like waking up on a Saturday morning, making a cup of coffee, and watching the sun rise while listening to the chirping of birds, crickets, or hummingbirds on a summer morning. There is something so beautiful about seeing the sun rise and the beauty of God’s creation start to wake up.

Evenings are just as beautiful in their own way. As the outside suddenly starts to go quiet again, while the sun goes down and you start winding down for bed, as the air cools from a hot day in the summer, you could fall asleep just sitting outside with the cool breeze and listening to the frogs and crickets.

Animals

One of my favorite parts of living on a farm is the animals! I love animals, and being around so many makes me very happy. Living on a cattle farm, we obviously have lots of cattle. Taking care of them is a task, but it is so worth it. Our livestock are all so calm, making it much easier on us. We also have two cats and two dogs. They make every day so exciting because they make our family complete, and they are excited because they have lots of room to run around and have fun! Lastly, we get tons of wild animals. From rabbits, birds, deer, turkeys, to reptiles like snakes, lizards, and more, there are so many animals we come across every day. These animals remind me just how beautiful nature truly is, and it makes me more joyful every day to see such animals living their best lives!

Plants

There are hundreds of different types of plants that make nature so beautiful. Wildflowers add a bright pop of color to the fields, and a lovely garden makes for an attractive addition of variety and wholesome foods to your land and your food! One of my favorite plants is dandelions, from which you can blow the seeds off the stem. This is so fun to do, but it is also beautiful as the seeds float through the air. Lastly, honeysuckles are one of my absolute favorites. They don’t last long, but they smell fantastic and taste sweet. Ensure you’re careful and research before consuming anything in the wild.

Delicious Meals

It is no secret that there is something special about a homemade comfort meal. One of my favorite things to do is cook, and I love trying recipes. It is so nice to have most of your ingredients, whether in your garden, your pantry with home-canned food, or eggs straight from your chickens. Being able to raise your own food is truly amazing. It also removes the wonder of what is in your food and what was sprayed on it while growing. Some fresh potatoes, carrots, onion, and green beans from your garden make for an absolutely delicious roast. Undoubtedly, having a garden is not only convenient, but it also adds a fresh taste to your food.

What Farm Life Means To Me

There’s nothing quite like a life where it is so calm and reminds you of what is essential in life. Nothing does that for me like being in nature and being around the animals I love. Being on a farm with family is very special and reminds me of why family is important. Working together to care for animals and the land, making food as a family, and playing games outside make it worth every hard day tending to the land or animals. Farm life means so much to me and will always hold a special place in my heart.

I worked at an organic dairy farm for two years, and it was the best job I ever had. Most difficult, but most rewarding. Also lived in the countryside until last year. Country living is my favorite place to be!
